News publication The Guardian and former CNN host Don Lemon announced Wednesday they are abandoning their X accounts, each citing issues with how the social media platform is being run.
Elon Musk acquired X, formerly Twitter, in 2022 and has since championed it as a haven for free speech. This led to a proliferation of conservative voices on the site, which once banned President-elect Donald Trump.
In a statement announcing his departure from X, Lemon wrote he no longer believes the site promotes “honest debate and discussion, transparency and free speech.” He also expressed frustration with the site’s upcoming terms of service update, which will allegedly require lawsuits against it to be filed in certain Texas district courts. ...
